Calgary born and Ottawa raised, Katie Ryerson is a Betty Award winning and Rideau Award nominated actor and singer currently based in Toronto, ON. Shifting easily from musicals, to Shakespeare, to everything in between, Katie’s work has taken her across Canada in a variety of roles. Some favourites include Cinderella in Into the Woods (Thousand Islands Playhouse), Halley in Armstrong’s War (Sudbury Theatre Centre), Deb in Ordinary Days, Alice in The Drowning Girls (Great Canadian Theatre Company, respectively), Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (The Globe), and Rosalind in As You Like It (a Company of Fools).

She has also originated characters in six Canadian Premieres, including Hilda in Tracey Power’s GLORY (Western Canada Theatre & Alberta Theatre Projects, Western Canada Theatre National Tour), Anya in Drew Hayden Taylor’s Sir John A: Acts of A Gentrified Ojibway Rebellion (National Arts Centre), and Lily in Beverley Cooper’s Janet Wilson Meets the Queen (Great Canadian Theatre Company).

She holds a BFA with honours in Performance Acting from Ryerson University and completed the Citadel/Banff Professional Theatre Program in 2017.

Recently, Katie had the chance to reprise her role of Anya in Sir John A: Acts of a Gentrified Ojibway Rebellion as part of CBC’s PlayME Podcast ‘The Show Must Go On Series’. Check it out here or wherever you get your podcasts.
